CIA World Fact Book July 2005 Estimates

  • International giving by US foundations: $1.5 billion per year
  • Charitable giving by US businesses: $2.8 billion annually
  • American NGOs: $6.6 billion in grants, goods and volunteers.
  • Religious overseas ministries: $3.4 billion, including health care, literacy training, relief and development.
  • US colleges scholarships to foreign students: $1.3 billion
  • Personal remittances from the US to developing countries: $18 billion in 2000

[1] Haiti is entitled to no less than $1 billion from the USA every year and as the result of the coup and hurricanes is entitled to more this first year of social security assistance Hurricane/ Haitian Insurance HA-29-9-04

[2] The per capita income of the USA is disputed.  The Office of Management and Budget and CIA report a GDP of $11.1 Trillion and per capita derived there from of $40,100 however the US Census Bureau reports a per capita of $21,600.  WHO reports a per capita of $36,056 however this is likely inspired by the high percentage of per capita contribution of US citizens to health.  The real per capita GDP and real GDP are probably more truthfully reported by the US Census at a per capita of $21,600 and GDP of $6.4 Trillion because this explains why the federal government has not been able to levy more than $2 Trillion in Taxes despite a poverty rate of only 12%.
